GROW NUTRITIOUS TOMATOES THE NATURAL WAY.

AGGRENE Natural Tomato Foodilizer is a special fertilizer formulated to supply tomatoes and other plants with the nutrients they require for healthy growth. It is a fish-kelp blend that provides essential nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in a 4-3-3 ratio.

AGGRENE Tomato Foodilizer 4-3-3 is formulated from all-natural ingredients. It contains hydrolyzed fish solubles extracted from Atlantic Menhaden Fish, which are slowly steamed and hydrolyzed to preserve the amino acids. These are then blended with North Atlantic kelp, bloodmeal, and natural sulfate of potash to provide additional nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (N,P,K).

TIPS FOR GROWING GREAT TOMATOES WITH AGGRENE

History: The tomato belongs to the plant family solanaceae, the same as potato, eggplant and pepper. It is native to South America and was first cultivated on the west side of the Andes in Ecuador and Peru. It eventually migrated up the coast and was intensively cultivated by Mexican Indian tribes. The Spanish were responsible for its introduction into Europe.

Culture: Tomatoes must be started indoors under lights or in a greenhouse. After six to eight weeks, when they have developed four to six leaves, they can be transplanted into the garden. The best time to transplant is during cloudy weather after the soil has warmed to at least 60°F. A black or red plastic mulch, planting in old car tires, wall-o-water (a water-filled plastic ring) or on the south side of a building will increase yields in cool marginal climates.

Transplantation: Dig holes 2-3 feet apart, 8-12 inches deep with 3-6 foot row spacing (narrower for staked plants).

Steps:

  • Pinch off all except top two or three leaves at the stem.
  • Plant in hole up to those leaves (burying most of the stem).
  • If soil is shallow, plant horizontally with tip bent gently Fertilization.
  • Till in a layer of compost in fall or early spring (2 inches). Use 2:1 soil/compost to fill holes when transplanting.
  • Mix two ounces AGGRENE 4-3-3 with one gallon water, and soak the bottom of the hole before transplanting; right after transplanting, water plants with same tea.
  • Sprinkle with AGGRENE fertilizer tea at first bloom, full bloom and during fruit set as cooler nights set in.

Disease:

  • Blossom end rot (black rot on the bottom of the fruit): Till in one quart AGGRENE 0-12-0 per 1,000 to 2,000 square feet before next growing season.
  • Radial cracking (cracks radiating from stem caused by uneven moisture): Use mulch and keep soil moist by watering with 1-2 gallons of water 2-3 times/week.

Proven:

  • Early; Northern Exposure, Early Girl, Cascade

Varieties:

  • Medium to late; Better Boy, Fantastic, Beef Steak
  • Cherry; Sweet 100
  • Paste; Roma
